Eco-Art School in the Amazon
Living Amazon Peru : Art Escape Sonoma
Creativity and Ecology come together with Artistic Fun
Our Living Amazon Peru Project collaborates with Art Escape of Sonoma, California across the continents. Together we host annual eco-art classes, teaching ecology through art, at Heliconia Amazon River Lodge, outside of Iquitos, Peru. The village students, from the local Biblioteca of CONAPAC, create nature-art using eco-friendly natural bark cloth, natural dyes, and palm fiber threads.
Kate Ortolano, co-founder of AE, and Mark Wangberg, co-founder of Living Amazon Peru help village students become creative masters. The village students learn the importance of their own backyard natural eco-art materials. Village students create their own unique design of nature of the Amazon that becomes artistic beauty.
